A Message From Our President

Dear members,

Welcome back and congratulations to those who have recently joined us. I’m sure you will find it a most rewarding experience being part of the MRSA. If you’re visiting this website as an artist or interested in art or as a friend of an artist, we would welcome your enquiries and potential membership of our society.

It’s that time of the year when we start to plan for the members exhibition which is held in May each year. This exhibition gives members an opportunity to present their work to an independent judge. It is always a well patronised event, and one people look forward to on the art calendar in the Maitland and surrounding area. I’m sure many of you are busy preparing works for that exhibition and I encourage you to not only be part of it as an exhibiting artist, but also as part of the organisation team.

It’s also coming up to our AGM when you will have the opportunity to show your interest by seeking nomination to one of the positions that helps run the society or by being an assistant to one of those leading a specific function for events. I encourage all members to actively participate and contribute as without such efforts, we would not be able to hold exhibitions.

If you have been a member for some time and haven’t taken a role in the society in the past perhaps now is the time to do so as several of our positions are vacant due to health and age factors.

I encourage you to come along to our monthly meetings and participate and contribute to our discussions. As president, I am interested in hearing what the members views are on matters that that are relevant to our society.

Most of all I look forward to this being an interesting, enjoyable and successful year for all our members.

Lindy Hyam

President

Our next meeting will be on Thursday 19th February 2026, 4 pm at Lorn Park Bowling Club

About Us

Winner of the 2024 MRSA Members Exhibition - 'Into the Greens' by Karen Malmgren

The society is a small but active group of like-minded people with an interest in various art forms including drawing, painting, sculpture etc. We are a mixture of all ages and characters.

We have been an active art society since 1998 and now have about one hundred members and hold 2 major exhibitions each year, usually in May and September.

We like to share our interest with the community, to promote our art works and sell them, if possible.  We also meet socially for lunch, workshops, outings and painting weekends away.

Our Constitution is available for perusal here.

Our regular meeting is at 4.00 pm on the third Thursday of each month at the Lorn Park Bowling Club.
